Song Review On Your Side of Town by Elihu Morris
Reggae finds Rock
Elihu Morris is from Kingston Jamaica and he started writing at the early age of 12. Elihu likes to add a few twists to his Jamaican style by adding some rock textures that fold into his beats.
He started writing the song On Your Side of Town around 1989 which was released as a single in 2021, totally worth the wait. The track starts off with drums, then Elihu’s voice comes in with his smooth silky tone. As you dig into the lyrics you find yourself relating to what Elihu is talking about in this song. It makes you feel like it’s time to make that phone call to that long lost friend of yours that you have not talked to in a while.
lyrics…
Today I thought about you
As I always do
and I think to myself, let me drop you a line or two
By now you must be start thinking you wont hear another word from me
Once a friend will always be a friend
Diving into the heart and soul of Elihu you can’t help but want to hear his music over and over again. On Your Side of Town is a true example of that. The overall production of this song is nicely done. If you have ever wondered what Reggae and Rock sounds like, take it from Elihu, aka Prince of Lover’s Rock, he will inspire you to branch out and listen toa mixture genres.
