BTD Interviews Lannlord
Hello Lannlord, I am s0 happy to take this time out to interview you. Let’s get started.
Can you tell our listeners where you are from?
I’m originally from the island of Jamaica. I’m presently living in New Jersey, USA.
I love your artist name, is that your real name or is that a name that you came up with?
Well, my friends came up with that name a long time ago because I was a landlord at a very young age and I kind of stuck with it. But it’s spelt different LANNLORD
You have a wonderful Reggae, Jamaican style, how would you describe your music?
I would describe my style of music as ReggaeHop, which is the name of my genre of music that I do (ReggaeHopMusic).
How long have you been involved in music and what got you started?
Well, I’ve been around music all my life pretty much I started doing music at a very young age in school concert etc. the thing I would say got me started would be just the love of music itself.
Do you write your own songs?
What starts the writing process for you? When you have a writing block, how do you get out of that mode?
First, I’ll get Myself totally in that vibe blocking everything else out and just focus 100% on the beat that I’m writing to and let the words come to me.
I really like your song, “Life Celebration”, it has such a positive fun vibe? Can you tell our BTD listeners about that song? When did you write it?
I wrote life celebration about a month ago my inspiration for that song was when my nephew passed away at a very young age about two months ago. Life is so unexpected you just never know when it’s your time, so I decided to make a song that’s sending a message to people telling them to start celebrating life because you just never know when you might not have that opportunity of having life anymore.
I see you have a few other songs out, what is “ChoppaLife” all about?
ChoppaLife to me is just a figure of speech meaning go for what you believe in, hustle hard, grind hard just go hard at whatever you believe in.
When you are in the studio, do you get started right away recording, or do you have to warm up and get into the swing of things?
Well I do most of my writing out of the studio, so normally 90% of the time when I go to the studio I just go right into it, but of course you have to get into your vibe for the specific song.
What’s your most favorite song that you have recorded and why?
Oh wow, I have a lot of favorite songs that I have recorded but I would say my favorite song to perform would be “Boom Whine” because it gets the ladies going crazy and that’s a good feeling.
Do you play instruments, if so, which ones?
No I don’t
Who are your musical influences and why?
Well, I have a lot of musical influences but to name a few I would say Beres Hammond , vybez kartel, Teejay ,jay z , Nicki Minaj etc.
What kind of advice would you give a new artist about what you have learned from the music industry?
My advice would be to be yourself, don’t try to be like anybody else have your own style be consistent, promote yourself and never give up on what you believe in.
When you are not creating music, what do you like to do?
Well, I’m also a promoter so I do a lot of events so that’s where most of my time goes to when I’m not creating music and of course spending time with my family.
If there was one thing you could tell us in this interview that you would like us to know… what would it be?
It would be to, please support my music help to share, so other people can get a chance to hear my music and understand that I make great music.
We are coming to a close of this interview, any projects coming up? New music?
Yes, I have a EP about to put out pretty soon we’re trying to come up with the exact date for that project as we speak
